Man Arrested for Indecent Exposure in Suwanee Walmart
SUWANEE, Ga. — Michael Jones, accused of indecent exposure inside a Walmart on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, has bonded out of Gwinnett County Jail. A judge granted him a $1,000 bond as his case progresses through the court system.
According to an arrest warrant, the incident occurred on Dec. 17, when Jones allegedly exposed himself in the women’s clothing section. After police confronted him, he fled the scene, prompting officers to use a Taser to apprehend him.
Chuck Boring, an attorney with experience in both prosecution and defense, expressed concern over Jones’ behavior. “He doesn’t strike me as a candidate for bond to not reoffend,” Boring said, referencing the public disturbance caused during the holiday season.
Jones has a history of similar offenses. Records from the Athens-Clarke County Court Clerk’s Office indicate he was arrested in January 2020 for exposing himself in various locations, including a shopping center and a hotel. He also faces allegations of stalking two women at a Walmart. Following those incidents, a judge sentenced him to 12 months of probation.
Boring emphasized the significance of reporting such incidents. He urged witnesses to contact law enforcement immediately to prevent potential escalation and further victimization. “It is important to report this type of behavior so it doesn’t escalate,” he said.
Jones currently has an ongoing case related to marijuana and traffic violations in Barrow County. Following the recent incident, Walmart has banned him from all its properties.
